Shri. K. Krishnankutty, Minister for Electricity represents Chittur Constituency of Palakkad district in the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly.

 

As son of Kunjukutty and Janaki he was born on 13th August 1944 at Ezhuthani, Chittur. He is serving as Minister for the second term in the second LDF led ministry headed by Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan. Previously, he served his first term as the Minister for Water Resources in the first LDF led ministry headed by Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan.  

 

He started his political career in the year 1964 through Indian National Congress. Earlier, he was Member, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee; State Treasurer, National Labour Organization; District President, Janata Party, Palakkad; National Executive Member and State Secretary General, Janatha Dal; President, Perumatty Service Co-operative Bank since 1970; Director, State Co-operative Bank; President, Agricultural Processing and Marketing Society; Chairman, State Agriculture Policy drafting Committee (2011-16). Previously elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly in 1980, 1982, 1991 and 2016. He is a well-known farmer and strong supporter of the co-operative sector. He introduced Hi-tech and precision farming first time in Kerala and implemented in Chittur.

 

He is married to Vilasini and has one daughter and three sons.
